5.0 out of 5 stars A front-loader is nothing like a top-loader...however, the LG is great!!, April 17, 2012
This review is from: LG WM2350HWC
Its a washing machine, nothing magical. I love it. Quiet, and it washes my clothes like it is supposed to do. User-friendly and moderately priced as well.

First of all, you have to educate yourself about front-loader washing machines. They are designed to NOT fill up with water like old top-loaders do. That is why they are more water efficient. Top-loaders filled up with water and cleaned clothes by agitating; front-loaders filled up with just enough water, and the clothes rub against themselves (friction, like you would do hand-washing) to clean.

Second, you MUST leave the door open so it can air out. As with anything where water will be sitting, mold and mildew will soon follow. If you see reviews about people's clothing smelling like that, its because they 1) probably shut the door immediately and do not allow the water (hot or cold) to air out. They also probably never clean the rubber seal, and underneath the seal, around the door.

Third,... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Does not remove stains and odors, May 29, 2011
This review is from: LG WM2350HWC
I've had this washer for about 3 weeks now, bought it based on Consumer Reports Review as there weren't many user reviews yet. I went from a top loading agitator which I thought would be a nice upgrade for energy efficiency.

So far, even after calling LG, I have not figured out a way to remove odor from the underarms of my husbands t-shirts. If it matters, he is a clean person and not a manual laborer. I've tried everything LG recommended, pretreat, prewash, extra soil setting, hot water, extra water, to no avail. I can still smell either body odor or underarm deoderant.

Also, I have always used white hand and bath towels so as to bleach them. They have always come out clean and free of stains with my top loader. As I have tried with the t-shirts, the hand towels actually come out looking dirtier than before the wash. They come out with gray stains all over them.

I have not received any benefits with owning this washer, only ruined towels and unclean... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Nice, but..., May 26, 2011
This review is from: LG WM2350HWC
I purchased this washer (less than 2 weeks ago) at a major discount home improvement center, along with the matching dryer, and they comp'ed the pedestals (to match another discount electronics store). I've always had good experiences with LG before, so chose it over a Whirlpool/Maytag similarly priced.

I wish I hadn't. The washer doesn't use anywhere near enough water to carry the dirt out of the clothes. Using the "water plus" feature doesn't add much more. In fact, at the end of the prewash cycle with "water plus" turned on, and a full load of jeans, sweat shirts, wear guard work pants and tee-shirts (work clothes), some of the items weren't even wet yet. The "Load Sense" indicated the load was only three-quarters full, even though nothing else would have fit in the washer. Stopping the washer and re-starting it sensed the extra weight of the somewhat wet clothes, so the second pass "load sensed" as full. But the clothes still came out dirty at the end of the 2 hour and... Read more
