2 of 2 people found the following review helpful This washer is a failure!, October 23, 2011 This review is from: Maytag Maxima EcoConserve MHW7000XG 27 Front-Load Steam Washer 4.3 cu. ft. Capacity, Cosmetallic I was very excited to get a new high efficiency washer, as I do a lot of laundry for my large family. When we got the washer, I was disappointed by the incredibly long wash cycles (some can take over 3 hours!) but it cleaned the clothes well, so I learned to live with it. Then I made the "mistake" of washing a comforter. The washer was not overloaded, but would not spin out the water and kept getting stuck in the "sensing" mode. In fact anything with any weight to it (rugs, blankets, pillows, etc) will cause this problem. I have had the repairman to my house 3 times and they have replaced the sensing unit and the CCU (Computer). The repairman said there is a known software problem with this machine. After the last visit, it worked okay for a while, but we are back to the same problem again! I want an old machine-no computer, just soap and water!
Outstanding washing machine!!!, February 1, 2012 By This review is from: Maytag Maxima EcoConserve MHW7000XG 27 Front-Load Steam Washer 4.3 cu. ft. Capacity, Cosmetallic I have only owned this machine for about a week now but it is amazing!!! Yes, the washing times are longer than a normal washer but the spin cycle is so damn fast it only takes about 15 minutes to dry even my heavy clothes. You can't imagine how fast this thing spins until you see it in action - 1,400 RPMs!!! It also uses very, very little water which is kind of alarming at first and you have to use "high efficiency" detergent. I love my machine so far and I have not had any balance problems. I bought it at the Sears outlet store and saved a ton of money over brand new so I was also able to afford a 3-year warranty and it was still cheaper than new. I washed two king-sized blankets at the same time and there was no problem. If you use the heavy soil mode, yes, the wash cycle can be two hours or more but if you use the "Normal" mode, it is 59 minutes. It is also crazy quiet, you can barely hear it and even when the spin cycle is going like crazy, you can put your hand on the machine... Read more
8 of 13 people found the following review helpful Nice washer with critical design flaw, July 2, 2011 By This review is from: Maytag Maxima EcoConserve MHW7000XG 27 Front-Load Steam Washer 4.3 cu. ft. Capacity, Cosmetallic I've used this new washer for about two months and, initially I was happy, but I'm regretting my purchase. There is a design flaw where if you're using liquid detergent, it immediately leaks in to the drum by spilling out on the inside part of the door. This wouldn't be an issue for most clothes but it can stain delicate fabrics. I have some white shirts and bed sheets that now have a faint dark spots where the detergent came in contact directly.
Anyway, I thought it was something wrong with my unit but apparently, repair person has confirmed that it's just the way they are designed. So unless you like getting your good clothes ruined, don't buy this model.
