Maytag's quality isn't what it used to be, August 31, 2011 This review is from: Maytag : MHWE500VW 4 cu. ft. Washer - White I purchased the Maytag 5000 series front loading washer and dryer in Jan-2010 from Home Depot. It's been about 1.5 years and we've already had four separate technician visits and three different issues with both the washer and dryer. For the record, the problems have been:
1. The moisture/humidity sensor in the dryer that tells the dryer when to turn off in "automatic" mode failed after 1 - 2 months. Even after it was "fixed" (replaced twice by technicians), we had to toss a dry towel in with our clothes in order to get them to dry properly.
2. After 6 - 8 months, the delay start on the washing machine stopped working and would result in an error on every cycle we attempted to start a bit later.
3. After 1.5 years, the washer started returning "F35" and "SUD" errors on every load. "SUD" usually means that you used the wrong (non-HE) soap, but we've always used HE soap in our washer. The problem ended up being a $200 sensor that is a common failure point for these... Read more
Maytag Quality, January 21, 2012 This review is from: Maytag : MHWE500VW 4 cu. ft. Washer - White We have owned the washer for about 4 years now. I have 5 kids and wash an average of 3 loads a day. We have never had a problem with the washer.
