Capacity - White My wife and I bought a brand new Whirlpool washer and dryer set. We loved it for a little over a year. Then the main bearing and the pressure sensor on the washer went out. The cost to repair would have been over $1200. We didn't pay that much for the washer. I called customer service and they told me that they would not do ANYTHING after the one year warranty period expired - "NO EXCEPTIONS!!" I found it difficult to believe that a company as established as Whirlpool would have such a policy. I talked to supervisor and pressed him on the issue. The answer remained - NO EXCEPTIONS. If anything breaks after one year, it is your responsibility. I understand normal wear and tear, but I expect the main bearing on the washer to last several years. I am still stunned that a customer service supervisor would actually tell me that after one year (even a year and a day - as I asked him) they will do NOTHING. Whirlpool does not care about anything after one year. The service man... Read more

Capacity - White DO NOT BUY THIS!!!! I have the exact problem as another reviewer. My washer was bought new directly from Whirlpool. 15 months later, the bearing is blown. Repair person just left my house this morning and said that repair will be very expensive: stainless steel basket, washer tub, motor belt, and front counter weight all need to be replaced. I don't have written estimate but when looking at these parts online, the cost for just parts is over $800 and repair tech estimated about $250 in labor charges. I have not called Whirlpool yet and dont have high hopes based on other reviewers' experiences. It looks like I need a new washer, and it won't be Whirlpool!
11 of 11 people found the following review helpful Buy a new washer every year? Then look to Whirlpool!, August 1, 2011 By Joseph T. Deday (Dillsburg, PA United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Whirlpool Duet Steam WFW9750WW 27 Front Load Washer 4.5 cu. ft. Capacity - White Wow, wish I would have found these reviews before we 'invested' in a Whirlpool Duet Steam washer. Don't get me wrong, when it worked, it was a wonderful washing machine. However, I, like many others, have found the useful life of this machine to be 12 months!
We purchased this new on Memorial Day 2010. In June 2011, 12 1/2 months old, and not used heavily or abused, codes F21 and F35 set. I called Whirlpool, and they indicated that the machine is out of warranty, and any repairs would be my accountability. First of all, any company that stands behind their products would show a little compassion for a customer who purchased a $1000 product from their company and experienced trouble within weeks of it being out of warranty, but not in the case of Whirlpool.
Now the repair company is on a wild goose chase replacing parts trying to get it to work and after weeks is still struggling. The repair bills are climbing, and I should have just cut my losses and used it... Read more
