PROS:
HOT' WATER: straight out of the tap and is not diluted by cold water as many new machines today
QUICK 'CYCLE: A Heavy duty hot water cycle is just 30 minutes.
QUIET: Oh so quiet!!! It is almost hypnotic to listen to the soft whoosh. I' live in a condo so having a quiet machine is important as the laundry closet is in the living room.
LARGE CAPACITY: easily washes four queen size sheets and eight pillowcases, plus pajamas, and other assorted clothes.
ADD' WATER 'FEATURE : Becaue the government has placed water restrictions on all washers the water does not go all the way up to the top. But you can override this feature by the add water feature. ('make sure to watch so you don't overfull washer)
SOAK: you can soak the clothes as long as you like according to the prescribed manner by Speedqueen. Water will not automatically let out after seven minutes as most new machines do

All of them were hopeless in their performance. I wanted to wash my clothes, not baptize them. Then a Speed Queen top loader came into my life and my world changed.
Back to Basics! Back to the old school when washers were washers and laundry was laundry, and the idea was to get the clothes clean. This machine is a steady workhorse for the family, not a prancing pony. The automatic balancing system works great! It has not gone out of balance since we bought it. It is quiet (Motor Hush Pack sound insulation), sounds exactly like a washing machine. It is plain, choosing not to make public appearances on showroom floors. The Queen only comes in plain white enamel.
This top load washer fully submerges the clothes in water and has a center agitator with small slender fins. The cycles of most new machines take longer...the Speed Queen only takes about 30... Read more

That's right. The Good Ole USA does still build some great things and this is one of them. The Speed Queen top loader represents (in my words) a winner and the most refined development of a classic top load washing machine. It is clearly the result of Speed Queen's many decades of experience buiding and selling machines to American families and launder mats across this wide world. This machine is refined to the nth degree to do nothing but produce clean soft clothes day in and day out over the years and do it with a few simple settings and no worries or front loader musty smells and expensive service agreements. Use the money you would have spent in the service agreement for that front loader from oversees you are eyeing and buy a solid washer from the USA.
Mine is white. They all are. Her paint job has three different coats. I swear the last must be a clear coat because she shines like a soft pearl... Read more
